B-17 “Thunderbird” Aviator’s Day Bag
This design is based on B-17 “Thunder Bird” (359BS/303BG) Serial No. 42-38050, which flew 112 combat missions with the 303rd Bomb Group. Â She reputedly was crewed by 538 different airmen, none of whom suffered an injury aboard. Â Sadly, after the war, she was returned to the United States, where she was scrapped. Â Â The name also appears on a later B-17G delivered at the end of the war, serial number 44-85718, which is painted to replicate the earlier Thunderbird. Â
