B-24 “A72-176” High Top Canvas Shoes
I Love A Hangar will donate $10USD from the sale of each pair of A72-176 shoes to the “B-24 Liberator Restoration Fund”.
This design is based on B-24M Liberator A72-176 of the Royal Australian Air Force, which is the only surviving B-24 from the RAAF’s wartime B-24 fleet and the only B-24 in the Southern Hemisphere.
287 x B-24s were supplied to the RAAF during World War II, and over 20,000 Australians maintained and flew the aircraft defending Australian shores from Japanese forces. Of those numbers, 33 x B-24s were lost resulting in the loss of over 200 lives.
A72-176 is currently undergoing long-term restoration to ensure the preservation of the sole B-24 Liberator remaining in Australia. One day it is hoped that the aircraft will again be able to taxi under its own 4 engines. For more information on this aircraft and it’s restoration progress (including some amazing photos), or to become a member, please head on over to the B-24 Liberator Restoration website.
