F4U Corsair #915 Low Top Canvas Shoes
This design is based on F4U Corsair (BuNo 17915) that was flown by Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Maj. Gregory “Pappy” Boyington when he was shot down on Jan 3rd, 1944 whilst commanding VMF 214 known as the “Black Sheep”. He had claimed 3 “Zekes” on this day just prior to begin shot down himself. Boyington was a United States Marine Corps fighter ace with 26 air to air victories against the Japanese prior to being shot down on January 3, 1944, and becoming a prisoner of war. Along with the Congressional Medal of Honor, Boyington also received the Navy Cross and the Purple Heart.
