HC-11 “Gunbearers” High Top Canvas Shoes
HC-11, known as the “Gunbearers,” was a U.S. Navy helicopter combat support squadron established in 1977. The squadron was tasked with providing vertical replenishment (VERTREP) and combat logistics support using the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters. Based at Naval Air Station North Island in California, HC-11 played a crucial role in supporting the Navy’s fleet operations, particularly during deployments in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The “Gunbearers” were known for their versatility and reliability, often operating in challenging conditions to ensure the efficient transfer of supplies, ammunition, and personnel between ships at sea. HC-11 was disestablished in 2005, with its missions being taken over by newer squadrons.
