Hurricane “OK-1” (P3854) of Keith Park Low Top Canvas Shoes
This design is inspired by the Hawker Hurricane P3854 “OK-1” flown as Air Vice Marshall Keith Park’s personal mount during the Battle of Britain. Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park (1892–1975) was a distinguished New Zealand-born RAF officer who played a pivotal role in the Battle of Britain during World War II. As the commander of No. 11 Group, RAF Fighter Command, he was responsible for the defence of London and southeast England during the crucial period of 1940. Park’s tactical brilliance, particularly his innovative use of fighter aircraft to intercept German raids, was instrumental in the RAF’s success. Often described as “the Defender of London,” he was highly respected by his peers but had a contentious relationship with other RAF leaders like Hugh Dowding and Trafford Leigh-Mallory. After the Battle of Britain, Park served in various other commands, including in the defense of Malta. His contributions were vital to the Allied air strategy, and he is remembered as one of the key figures in the RAF’s wartime efforts.
