P-40 “ID” of Keith “Bluey” Truscott Low Top Canvas Shoes
Keith “Bluey” Truscott was a renowned Australian fighter ace during World War II, serving with both the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the Royal Air Force (RAF). He flew the Spitfire, in Europe before returning to Australia in early 1942 and changing to the Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk, which bore the markings “ID,” with No. 76 Squadron RAAF. Truscott gained fame for his exceptional combat skills in the defence of Australia and in the Pacific theatre. He achieved 20 confirmed aerial victories before his untimely death in a flying accident in 1943. Truscott remains one of Australia’s most celebrated war heroes.
