P-40 “Josephine” Low Top Canvas Shoes
This design is based upon the P-40 Warhawk flown by Charles P. Bailey. Charles P. Bailey was one of the first African American fighter pilots known as the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. He flew with the 99th Fighter Squadron, primarily piloting the P-40 Warhawk “Josephine” (named after his mother) and later the P-51 Mustang named “My Buddy” in missions over Europe. Bailey completed 133 combat missions and shot down two Fw 190 German fighters, displaying extraordinary skill and bravery.
