P-51 “Joedebelle” Low Top Canvas Shoes
This design is based on the P-51 Mustang “Joedebelle” as flown by Captain Joseph Elsberry of the famous 332nd Fighter Group also known as the Tuskegee Airmen. Elsberry flew with the 301st Fighter Squadron and during one mission over France on July 12th, 1944, he destroyed three enemy aircraft followed by a fourth on July 20th, 1944, becoming the first African American fighter pilot in history to do so. He is only one of four Tuskegee Airmen to have earned three aerial victories in a single day of combat.
