Spitfire “DW-O” Low Top Canvas Shoes
Spitfire X4011 “DW-O”, marked as DW-O, served with 610 “County of Chester” Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Flown by Sgt. Aubrey Cyril Baker, the aircraft crash-landed at Gatwick on August 29, 1940, but both Baker and the aircraft survived. However, X4011 met a tragic end on November 5, 1940, when it crashed during a night take-off at RAF Acklington, resulting in the death of Pilot Officer Macintosh Gray aged only 21.
